1. Mix it up
If you’re planning on going to dinner and a show, do the show first, then dinner. You’ll have plenty of subject matter for dinner table conversation – in case you need it. If you run out of conversation, you can always talk about the show or film.

If you meet a girl and would like to see her again, a small loan of something – perhaps a book – will ensure that she gives you her number and gives you a great ‘excuse’ to get together with her again.

Tell her you think this is your lucky day and share a lotto ticket with her. Now you can tease each other about what you’d do with all the money if you won – and it can make a great excuse to contact her after the draw – even if you didn’t win anything!

Having a blanket or picnic kit handy when you go on an outdoor date can really earn you brownie points!
5. Get the ‘glad eye’
The moment has come. You have eye contact. Instead of just staring, focus on one eye and then the other. This makes your eyes look more lively and sparkly!
6. Announce that it’s her birthday
Whatever you do, avoid doing this with shy girls, but one who is vivacious and will enjoy the deception and the attention of restaurant staff will always remember the fun she had with you.
7. Grab the bill when you’re not at the table
‘Nice’ girls might want to argue with you about paying their share of the bill. Don’t give her the opportunity. Nip over to the counter and settle it before she’s aware of what you’re up to.
8. Find out what type of food she likes
Once she’s told you, announce that you know the very best place for that kind of food (even if you don’t). You can always find out from friends later – and you get to secure another date.
9. Would she let you kiss her?
This can be a first date conundrum of note. The best way to find out is to try and hold her hand. If she pulls away, the answer is ‘No’ or at least ‘Not yet’. If she takes it, your chances of a kiss and maybe even more are pretty good.
10. Get her laughing
Go and see a comedian or watch a funny movie together. That way, you’ll have lots of jokes to share later on. You might even develop a ‘private joke’ that only the two of you recognise as funny. That’s very, very intimate!
